Fiona Egan Hochanda Presenter

Engaging with Viewers and Crafting at Hochanda

Hi my name is Fiona and I gained a BA hons in English Literature and Theatre Studies at Leeds University, and then trained as an actor in London. Acting has always been my passion, and presenting became another facet of my work in 2003, when I joined Gems TV ( Gemporia ) and Jewellery Maker, and presented for over 10 years. I still do the acting and run my own Pantomime production company with my partner, Panto Ever After. In 2015 I joined Hochanda and the world of crafting opened up to me.

As a child I loved making my own costumes and putting on shows for whoever would listen, so I used to have a sewing machine. Being back at Hochanda has reinvigorated that passion. Doing my theatre degree it was also important to look at the other elements of theatre, not just performing, so costume making, publicity posters, make-up, and prop making, I find it all ties into the crafting world. I also studied Art A level, and love all the different mediums available on Hochanda. The creativity in the studio is inspiring. My dad was a musician and in a band in his younger days, and with both of my parents being Irish, music and dancing was always very popular.

I love presenting and the crafting world, as it opens new horizons and I am always learning.
